Accommodation

From rainforest ecolodges to city hotels. What accommodation awaits you on your Indonesia trip.

Types of accommodation

On your Indonesia trip, you’ll experience various types of accommodation — from comfortable city hotels (Medan, Brastagi) to riverside pensions and ecolodges (Bukit Lawang) to simple bamboo huts on the islands (Pulau Banyak). None of them is a generic Booking resort — we select each place personally because we stay there ourselves and know it well.

What to expect

Basic standard includes a shower, mosquito net and fan (or air conditioning in cities). In the jungle camp, you sleep on a mattress with a pillow, mosquito net and sarong for cover. Laundry is possible at hotels. A plug adapter is not needed — outlets are the same as in the Czech Republic. Wi-Fi is available at hotels but is often slow — we recommend your own eSIM.

Accommodation at key locations

Each stop offers a different experience:

Bukit Lawang

Ecolodge right by the Bohorok river, at the edge of the rainforest. Jungle sounds wake you in the morning.

Lake Toba

Guesthouse on Samosir island with views of the world’s largest volcanic lake.

Pulau Banyak

Bamboo huts on the beach of Palambak island. No grid electricity, just a generator and an endless ocean.

Brastagi

Hotel with volcano views in the cooler highland climate.

How we handle it

We select vetted places that we know personally. No generic Booking resorts. Each accommodation is chosen to complement the experience — not just to provide a bed.

Upgrades

At most stops, we offer upgrades to more comfortable accommodation for an additional fee of approximately 1,500 CZK per night per person. Upgrades include a better room, air conditioning, sometimes a pool. We discuss this with you when planning the itinerary.
