Frequently asked questions

Is the trip safe?

Yes. South Sulawesi is safe for tourists. Makassar is a large city with standard infrastructure, Tana Toraja is accustomed to foreign visitors. Local guides accompany you throughout the trip.

How physically demanding is the program?

Moderately demanding. Treks in Toraja and Rammang-Rammang require basic fitness. We adjust the pace. Days at Bira and Selayar are for rest.

Will we have internet access?

In Makassar and cities, yes. In Toraja, limited. On Selayar and at the Kajang community, minimal or none.

Can children travel with us?

Yes. We adapt the cultural program to age. Beaches at Bira and Selayar are ideal for families.

We're not drawn to culture with sacrificial rituals. Is that an issue?

Not at all. We customize the cultural program. We never visit ceremonies without prior arrangement and your consent.

What about the floating villages on Lake Tempe?

It depends on the lake level. During the dry season, the boat trip may not be possible — the guide will offer an alternative program.

Can the program be modified?

Of course. We customize the itinerary — length of stay in Toraja, Selayar or Bira, cultural program, travel pace.
